The House Republican Budget is a Betrayal of the American People
Updated On: Oct 12, 2017
The following is a statement from Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works, in reaction to the Republican budget that just passed the House:
“On a party line vote, the House just passed a budget that cuts Medicare by nearly $500 billion and Medicaid by up to $1.5 trillion, along with raising the Medicare eligibility age to 67. Yet again, the Republican Party has betrayed the American people to give their Wall Street donors massive tax handouts.
The fight now moves to the Senate, where a budget with similarly draconian cuts has been proposed. It only takes three Senate Republicans to defeat that budget.”
