QUEENS AREA LOCAL, APWU NEGOTIATES NY/ISC 2017 CUSTODIAL LINE H SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT
Updated On: Mar 29, 2018
The following agreement represents full settlement of all Custodial Line H issues for the 2017 fiscal year:
All eligible custodians on the rolls of the NY/ISC as of the date of this settlement will receive $1500 each.
In order to be considered eligible for payment, Custodians must have been available to work overtime during the 2017 fiscal year.
The negotiations concerning the Line H amounts began in November 2017 and basically evolved around the amount of work hours in Labor Distribution Code 38 (LDC) during the fiscal year. Since in accordance with the 2014 MS-47/TL-5 Memo, management failed to reach the required amount of LDC 38 hours in 2017, Queens Area Local President Ron Suslak met with Maintenance Manager James Duffy and hammered out a settlement amount. Since the agreed upon amount exceeded local authorization, Area and District approval was needed. Since both the Area and District attempted to delay authorization for approval, President Suslak was forced to seek assistance from several headquarters officials and file a failure to comply grievance.
The grievance was recently resolved and pay adjustments were made by the District Labor Relations Manager. The pay adjustments were entered into the system on 3/6/2018 and all eligible Custodians should see the $1500 lump sum in their paychecks within two pay periods.
